About The Position

Altom Transport is seeking professional Over The Road CDL A Owner Operator Tanker Drivers to transport liquid bulk materials across the country. Drivers typically spend 7 or more consecutive days on the road. Home time can be planned according to operational needs and driver preferences. The position offers flexibility to maximize earnings while maintaining high safety and service standards. Owner operators haul chemical and petroleum products using tank trailers and manage their own equipment, fuel purchases, trip planning, and scheduling. They follow loading and unloading procedures for ISO/Flexi-Bag or tanker operations, maintain accurate logs and required paperwork, comply with DOT and Hazmat regulations, and represent Altom Transport professionally at customer locations. Drivers must maintain a steady workload by meeting mileage or hour requirements and be available 24/7 when needed. Altom Transport describes its operating approach as “mission first, safety always.” Its safety and qualification processes include driver vetting, training and safety meetings, compliance programs, emergency response planning, equipment requirements, and incident investigation procedures.

Requirements

Valid CDL Class A license.
Tanker endorsement (N) required.
Minimum 1 year of verifiable tanker driving experience; the driver vetting process also specifies a minimum of 2 years of verifiable tanker experience within the last 5 years.
At least 23 years of age.
Clean MVR and strong safety record.
Able to pass a DOT physical, drug screening, and background check.
Dependable, safety-minded, and able to work independently.
Willing to work flexible schedules, including 24/7 operations if needed.
Late-model equipment that meets Altom’s inspection standards.
No DUI/OWI on record within the last 5 years.
Must not be prohibited in the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse.
No at-fault/preventable fatal or rollover accidents in the last 5 years.
No more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years.
No more than 2 CSA moving violations in the last 18 months.
No falsification on the driver application.
Must hold a current X endorsement.
Comply with the Drug & Alcohol Policy and DOT compliance program, HM 232 requirements, and General Awareness testing in accordance with 49 CFR 172-part H.

Nice To Haves

Hazmat endorsement (H) preferred; must be obtained within 90 days of hire, with assistance available.
TWIC card preferred; otherwise, it must be obtained after hire.

Responsibilities

Safely transport chemical and petroleum products using tank trailers while adhering to DOT regulations.
Maintain the truck and ensure it meets inspection standards and remains in suitable condition for long-haul work.
Follow proper loading and unloading procedures for ISO/Flexi-Bag or tanker operations.
Maintain accurate logs, submit necessary paperwork, and comply with Hazmat regulations.
Represent Altom Transport professionally at customer locations.
Manage fuel purchases, trip planning, and scheduling to maximize revenue.
Maintain a steady workload by meeting mileage or hour requirements.
Be available 24/7 when needed.
Participate in the required in-person new-hire training and quarterly mandatory safety meetings.
Report incidents and cooperate with incident, accident, and injury investigations.
