About The Position

Altom Transport is seeking dedicated and professional Over The Road CDL A Owner Operator Tanker Drivers to safely transport liquid bulk materials across the country. The role requires extended time on the road, typically 7 or more consecutive days. Home time can be planned based on operational needs and driver preferences. The position offers flexibility to maximize earnings while maintaining high safety and service standards.

As an owner operator, you are both a business owner and a partner in Altom Transport’s operation. You haul chemical and petroleum products using tank trailers, maintain your truck to inspection standards, follow proper loading and unloading procedures, keep required logs and paperwork, comply with Hazmat regulations, and represent the company professionally at customer locations. You also manage fuel purchases, trip planning, and scheduling to maximize revenue and maintain a steady workload by meeting mileage or hour requirements. Drivers must be willing to be available 24/7 when needed.

Altom Transport emphasizes safety, compliance, and driver support. The qualification and safety program includes in-person new-hire training, quarterly safety meetings, regulatory and emergency-response programs, forward-facing cameras on company and contractor equipment, governed company equipment, incident investigations, and provided PPE.

Requirements

• Valid CDL Class A license.
• Tanker endorsement (N) required.
• At least 23 years of age.
• Minimum 1 year of verifiable tanker driving experience; the driver vetting process also specifies at least 2 years of verifiable tanker experience within the last 5 years.
• Late-model equipment that meets Altom’s inspection standards.
• Clean MVR and strong safety record.
• Able to pass a DOT physical, drug screening, and background check.
• Dependable, safety-minded, and capable of working independently.
• Willing to work flexible schedules, including 24/7 operations when needed.
• No DUI/OWI on record within the last 5 years.
• Must not be prohibited in the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse.
• No at-fault or preventable fatal or rollover accidents in the last 5 years.
• No more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years.
• No more than 2 CSA moving violations in the last 18 months.
• No falsification on the driver application.
• Must hold a current X endorsement.
• Complete minimum 1-week in-person new-hire training.
• Comply with General Awareness testing in accordance with 49 CFR 172-part H and the Drug & Alcohol Policy and DOT Compliance program.

Nice To Haves

• Hazmat endorsement (H) preferred; must be obtained within 90 days of hire, with assistance available.
• TWIC card preferred; otherwise, it must be obtained after hire.

Responsibilities
