About The Position

America Works of Washington, Inc., a socially conscious company, is seeking an Outreach Coordinator/Intake Specialist to drive participant recruitment, community engagement, and enrollment for a workforce development program serving Thurston County and surrounding areas. The ideal candidate holds a 4-year degree, is self-motivated, and is excited to use their background in outreach, community engagement, marketing, recruitment, or a comparable participant-facing role to promote the program and recruit eligible job seekers. Strong communication and organizational skills and a passion for helping low-income and underserved job seekers find employment are essential. The Outreach Coordinator/Intake Specialist will be based at the Thurston County WorkSource location and will travel to rural and neighboring areas for outreach campaigns and local events. Candidate must be willing to travel throughout all counties served as needed. This role focuses on building community awareness, recruiting prospective participants, and conducting initial intake to connect individuals with program services.

Requirements

  • Must be willing to travel throughout all counties served as needed
  • Minimum of 4-year degree
  • One to three (1-3) years of experience working with clients/participants in a workforce development, social services, or community-based context preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in outreach, recruitment, or a comparable role involving direct client contact and relationship building
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant experience and/or advanced studies a plus
  • Skill and/or experience in graphic design, marketing, and community outreach preferred
  • Knowledge of Canva and social media management tools a plus
  • Proficiency in CRM Software, Microsoft Teams, and OneDrive/SharePoint a plus
  • Understanding of workforce development, employment services, and adult education a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, professional demeanor, sound judgment, and exceptional organizational skills
  • Able to meet deadlines and have a high degree of flexibility to adapt to changing tasks and priorities
  • Passion for serving individuals from disadvantaged and underserved populations, including but not limited to: public assistance recipients, justice-involved individuals, persons with physical and/or mental disabilities, and individuals experiencing homelessness

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement an outreach plan to find new program participants, including digital and print marketing, advertising through traditional media, participation in community events, and planning and hosting outreach events
  • Make outgoing outreach calls to current and potential program participants
  • Represent the program at community events, job fairs, and partner locations
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, employers, and referral partners
  • Conduct participant intake, screening, and initial assessment
  • Support enrollment and warm hand-off to the Career Success Team
  • Interact with and greet visitors, including new and current participants, partners, and other stakeholders
  • As needed, assist the Director in the production and dissemination of informational and training materials to participants, partners, and staff
  • Provide general administrative support for the office
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of outreach activity and participant intake
  • Model professionalism and inclusiveness, cultivate a safe environment for career development, and motivate clients to find full-time employment
