The Outreach Certified Athletic Trainer serves as a liaison between patients, medical staff, physical therapists, other athletic trainers, physicians, and physician office staff. This role involves coordinating medical care between athletic training departments, physician offices, hospital departments, and other sites as needed. The position focuses on injury prevention through customized strategies and programs, minimizing risk through awareness and education. The trainer will supervise, instruct, and participate in the prevention, care, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries, providing emergency treatment and consultation. They will also coordinate pre-season medical examinations with physicians to improve rehabilitation and conditioning programs, observe practice sessions to suggest modifications for injury reduction, and respond to injured athletes at sporting events, ensuring proper medical care and transportation if necessary. The role requires monitoring practices and games, making sound decisions for athlete care, interacting with the student athletic population, and applying good judgment in crisis situations. The trainer will also aid providers with procedures, float to other provider teams when needed, and maintain medical records of injuries, evaluations, and treatments. Community outreach event assistance is also part of the responsibilities, and travel may be required.
