About The Position

The Outreach Certified Athletic Trainer will serve as a liaison between patients, medical staff, and other healthcare professionals. This role involves coordinating medical care, implementing injury prevention programs, and providing direct care to athletes. The position requires a strong understanding of athletic injuries, rehabilitation, and emergency response. The trainer will also assist with community outreach events and maintain medical records.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Athletic Training required.
  • Certificate from the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATABOC).
  • Current Colorado Clinical Athletic Trainer Certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Liaison between patient, medical assistant, physical therapist, other athletic trainers, physician, physician assistant, or physician office staff.
  • Assists with communication and coordination of medical care between the athletic training departments, physician offices, departments of the hospital, and additional sites as needed.
  • Coordinates and implements injury prevention programs and customized preventative strategies and programs for each patient/athlete.
  • Minimizes risk of injury through awareness, education, and prevention strategies.
  • Supervises, instructs, and participates in the prevention, care, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for all sports teams and provides emergency treatment and consultation to them.
  • Supervises and coordinates results of pre-season medical examinations in consultation with physicians to establish improved rehabilitation and conditioning programs for athletes.
  • Observes practice sessions for the assigned athletic teams, and discuss possible modifications of schedules or routines with the coaching staff to reduce the risk of injuries.
  • Responds to athletes injured at sporting events, evaluates injuries, assures proper medical care, arranges for transportation if needed, and assists until emergency staff takes over care.
  • Monitors practices and games, making necessary decisions for the proper care of athletes.
  • Interacts with student athletic population, apply sound decision-making skills, be able to react to emergency situations, and apply good judgment in crisis situations.
  • Aids providers with procedures or care as needed.
  • Works as “float” to other physicians/provider teams when needed.
  • Maintains medical records of injuries, evaluation and treatment for all athletes.
  • Assists with community outreach events as assigned by the Director/Manager.
  • Travel may be required.
