About The Position

Kansas Gastroenterology is seeking a full-time Outpatient Scheduler to join its established and growing gastroenterology practice. The role supports a quality patient experience and patient satisfaction by coordinating outpatient procedures, follow-up visits, and related tests. The successful candidate is dependable, energetic, self-motivated, committed to performance measures, and able to work as part of a team. Experience is preferred, but training will be provided to the right person.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least one year of experience working in a medical office or facility, scheduling appointments and/or procedures.
EMR experience.
Ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

Schedule outpatient procedures and follow-up visits requested by physicians, optimizing patient satisfaction and provider time through in-person and telephone scheduling.
Follow physician and provider orders when scheduling ancillary tests and procedures.
Coordinate scheduled tests and procedures with patients and/or family members, answer questions, and provide instructions and educational materials.
Coordinate tests and procedures with hospital and facility staff.
Enter information electronically in patient records.
Answer calls and tasks.
Obtain, verify, and record patients’ health histories.
Check schedules and organize patient flow as assigned.
Perform clerical duties as assigned, including sending and receiving medical records; obtaining lab and X-ray reports, hospital notes, and referral information; completing forms and requisitions; and verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics.
Follow HIPAA guidelines and confidentiality policies.
Provide excellent customer service.
