About The Position

The Outpatient Director will be responsible for understanding and advancing the program's mission and vision through their work. This role involves interacting, communicating, and collaborating positively with team members to support Northstar Behavioral Health's goals. The Director will oversee adherence to 245G standards and regulations, program philosophy, policies, and procedures, including client rights and confidentiality. They will participate in licensing reviews, implement new policies, and support program growth by developing new services and sites. The position requires conducting and participating in various meetings, keeping colleagues informed, and managing staff through recruitment, selection, training, scheduling, performance management, and professional development. The Director will be responsible for disciplinary actions, exhibiting diplomacy and sensitivity towards staff and clients, and maintaining current knowledge of site and client activities. They will review audits to improve staff documentation, handle grievances and incident reports, and review comprehensive assessments and client referral documentation. Effective communication with the Intake and Outreach Director regarding approvals and denials is essential. The role also includes providing clinical services such as comprehensive assessments, group therapy, and individual therapy, documenting appropriately according to Northstar Behavioral Health policies and governing body standards. Coordination of care with internal and external entities is crucial for improving client recovery outcomes. The Director must be highly dependable, able to work independently with minimal direction, and willing to work additional hours as needed for coverage. Other tasks assigned by the supervisor must also be completed.

Requirements

  • Must be licensed by the Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy as a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor.
  • Must be designated by the Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy as a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor Supervisor.
  • Bachelor degree.
  • Must have 5 or more years of work experience in direct service to individuals with substance use disorder.
  • Must have 3 years of work experience in the management or administration of direct service to individuals with substance use problems.
  • CPR Certification or attain within 30 days.
  • Must understand and follow NBH's Drug and Alcohol Policy.
  • Must pass a State of Minnesota Background Check.
  • Must possess a current Minnesota Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to use Google Suite and other computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight to ensure the facility is adhering to 245G standards and regulations, program philosophy and policies and procedures, including client rights and confidentiality, and other governing regulations.
  • Participate in licensing reviews.
  • Implement new policies and procedures as needed.
  • Support the development of growing the program with new services to offer, development of new sites, etc.
  • Conduct and participate in meetings as appropriate: individual, clinical, multidisciplinary, Treatment Coordination, Peer Recovery Support Specialist, manager meeting, director meeting, etc.
  • Keeps co-workers informed of all appropriate developments.
  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees: coordinating work schedules: managing performance and developing personal growth opportunities.
  • Responsible for disciplinary action in response to employee problems, performance or behavior: including but not limited to, verbal, written and performance improvement plan.
  • Being diplomatic and exhibiting sensitivity toward other staff and client's feelings, needs, values, and opinions.
  • Maintain current knowledge of site and client activities.
  • Review audits to evaluate further support for staff to improve professional documentation.
  • Review and respond to grievances, incidents reports, and staff and client concerns according to NBH policies and procedures.
  • Review all Comprehensive Assessments and client referral documentation for the program.
  • Communicate effectively with the Intake and Outreach Director regarding approvals and denials.
  • Provide clinical services and document appropriately (comprehensive assessments, group therapy, individual therapy, etc) in accordance to Northstar Behavioral Health Policies and procedures and standards established by governing bodies as needed.
  • Coordinate care with internal (Nursing, Mental Health Providers, Treatment Coordinators, and Peer Recovery Support Specialist) and external (Department of Corrections, court, probation, child protective services, other providers) entities to improve outcome of clients recovery.
  • Highly dependable and can be counted on to work independently, having the ability to work with little direction.
  • Is willing to work additional hours as needed for coverage.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
