The Outdoor Recreation Coordinator provides professional management and supervision for the daily operations of University Recreation Outdoor Programs. This role supports outdoor equipment rental, a 40-foot climbing wall, a bike repair shop, an experiential education program, an outdoor trip program, and special events. Programming and activities occur at two on-campus locations: the Outdoor Rental Center at the Student Recreation Center and the Climbing Wall at the Witt Student Activity Center. These programs focus on health, holistic wellness, safety education, and leadership development. The Coordinator reports to and works closely with the Assistant Director for Outdoor Recreation on strategic planning to ensure programmatic, financial, and experiential goals are met. They are responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising 25-35 student staff employees, performing employee skills assessments and performance evaluations, creating a programmatic calendar, scheduling facilities, and managing staff. The role involves developing and executing revenue-producing programs, assisting with departmental safety trainings, and performing high-level risk assessments. Additionally, the Coordinator manages administrative tasks such as payroll, budgeting, and accounting, with personal accountability for financial reporting and for establishing, enforcing, and following internal processes and controls as outlined in UA policies and procedures. They assist in providing opportunities that positively impact the physical, social, and emotional well-being of University students through collaboration and partnerships with other divisional and campus units. This position requires being on-call for emergencies in the program area, with potential for evening, weekend, and holiday work. The Coordinator is responsible for completing required training and promoting a safe, hospitable, and respectful workplace, as well as holding staff accountable for their training completion.
