Outdoor Educational Consultant (Bienenstock)
About The Position
At Bienenstock Natural Playgrounds, our team is a diverse group of natural playground designers, landscape architects, construction experts, trainers, and educators. Our comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach sets us apart in creating innovative outdoor learning environments that connect children with nature. We are dedicated to fostering natural curiosity, creativity, and a sense of adventure through our playgrounds and educational initiatives. We are seeking an Outdoor Educational Consultant to join our educational department at Bienenstock Natural Playgrounds. The candidate will be required to work at various schools and childcare centers throughout Ontario, coordinating and delivering educational programs and professional development for educators in these fields. This includes, but is not limited to, scheduling, program prep, program delivery, maintaining educational materials and equipment including the storage unit, managing content, analyzing post-program surveys, and implementing results. Professional development and pedagogical expertise will extend internally into all Bienenstock departments through in-person and virtual onboarding training sessions.
Requirements
- RECE certification, ECE diploma, with 2-5 years of experience.
- Vulnerable sectors check.
- Valid CPR Level C and First Aid certification.
- A valid G driver's license.
- Passion for working with young children in the outdoors.
- Outdoor Education experience is imperative.
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities.
- Strong organizational and administrative acumen.
- Good active listening skills.
- Represents the company in a professional manner.
- Strong public speaking skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Independently driven while maintaining team cohesion.
- Proficient in Google Suite, Zoom; Adobe Illustrator is an asset.

Responsibilities
- Facilitating in-person nature play workshops with the education team for children and educators in child care and school boards.
- Organizing, loading, and site set-up/take down of loose part materials/curriculum tools (i.e., planks, milk crates, ropes, ratchet straps, stumps) with an ability to lift and carry up to 24 kg.
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Consulting with clients (educators) during nature play workshops.
- Confidence in using and a functional understanding of virtual learning platforms i.e. Zoom, Google, and Teams.
- Occasional overnight travel and possible weekend work.
- Occasional early morning start times (6am - 7am).
- Creation and updating of in-house educational resources and client handouts.
- Communication and outreach with clients through email and phone calls.
- Assist with company-wide initiatives.
