Orthopedic Associates of Hartford (OAH), in partnership with Hartford HealthCare, provides physical and occupational therapy services within OAH offices. The integrated care model gives therapists direct access to orthopedic surgeons, opportunities to observe surgeries onsite, and a team-centered approach to patient care. The therapist works alongside clinicians, assistants, office staff, physicians, nurses, and physician assistants to help patients regain mobility and return to active lifestyles. The Physical Therapist independently evaluates patients, develops evidence-based treatment plans, and delivers or delegates therapeutic interventions for people recovering from orthopedic surgery, sports injuries, and musculoskeletal conditions. Patient care may include joint replacements, sports-related injuries, back and extremity pain, and acute or chronic musculoskeletal dysfunction. The therapist assesses strength, motor control, mobility, soft tissue integrity, posture, gait, balance, cardiopulmonary endurance, and functional abilities to support patients in restoring function and returning to active lifestyles.
