About The Position

Orthopedic Associates of Hartford (OAH), in partnership with Hartford HealthCare Rehabilitation Network, is hiring a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant for outpatient orthopedics at locations in Glastonbury or Plainville. The PTA works within OAH offices alongside orthopedic physicians and provides collaborative, patient-centered care. Under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, the PTA assists with assessments and the development, revision, and implementation of treatment plans to identify, prevent, remediate, and rehabilitate acute or prolonged physical dysfunction or pain, with an emphasis on physical dysfunction. The role uses treatment skills and tools to assess patient needs and applies physical agents, exercise, and other procedures to maximize patients’ functional independence. This is a full-time position. Clinic hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; the schedule requires two days opening and two days closing. The position is eligible for a sign-on bonus.

Requirements

Connecticut Physical Therapist Assistant licensure.
Graduation from a Physical Therapy Assistant program at an accredited American Physical Therapy Association school.
Associate degree.

Responsibilities

Provides physical therapy interventions under a plan of care written by a physical therapist.
Performs therapy interventions using techniques and skills appropriate for the patient population.
Documents treatment interventions.
May coordinate activities of rehabilitation aides, students, and other support personnel.
Communicates and documents information relevant to patient care to support effective, efficient delivery of quality service and maximum reimbursement.
Uses products, supplies, equipment, and time efficiently; meets productivity targets and helps promote smooth department operations.
Uses established safety precautions and procedures to maintain a safe environment for patients, guests, and coworkers.
