About The Position

New England Donor Services is seeking an experienced ICU RN, Critical Care RN, Trauma Nurse, or Critical Care Respiratory Therapist to serve as an Organ Donation Coordinator. The coordinator responds on-site to organ donor referrals and provides clinical expertise in donor evaluation, donor management, organ allocation, and organ recovery. The role combines clinical and interpersonal skills to educate hospital staff about donation, work with donor families to obtain consent, and collaborate with surgical teams and critical care staff to optimize organs for transplantation. Success requires sound clinical assessment, flexibility, and the ability to remain calm and effective in highly charged, clinically complex situations. The role includes an initial company orientation in Waltham, Massachusetts, followed by a specialized Donation Academy. The academy includes three days per week of classroom training in Waltham during the first three weeks, generally Tuesday through Thursday on a day shift, plus additional training throughout the orientation program. After classroom training, new hires participate in 16-hour on-call day shifts. Once working independently, the schedule is three 16-hour on-call day shifts per week, from 8:00 a.m. to midnight, on a four-week schedule, plus trainings and meetings. Significant travel throughout New England using a personal vehicle is expected; mileage and other reimbursements are available. The next cohort is scheduled to start January 4, 2027.
