About The Position

Tessera Labs is hiring an Oracle Fusion Project Accounting (PPM) SME for a full-time, permanent role supporting a retail store development program. The role is US-based and hybrid: remote work is combined with regular on-site work at customer offices and store construction sites, with travel up to 30%. The employee works US business hours with the customer's Corporate Accounting, Construction, Real Estate and Procurement teams, an Oracle Fusion Financials consultant, and Tessera's distributed delivery team. The position reports to the VP, Center of Excellence, and has an immediate start date. The initial assignment is a 12-to-18-month, multi-wave migration and implementation from a legacy system to Oracle Fusion Cloud PPM, followed by another Oracle engagement. The SME will lead assessment of legacy capital project and cost accounting processes, conduct fit-gap analysis against standard Oracle Fusion functionality, and translate requirements into a greenfield Oracle configuration. The solution is intended to support store build-outs, remodels and relocations, and should meet business and accounting outcomes without reproducing legacy workarounds. Design decisions span project costing, capital appropriations, budgetary control, commitments, change orders, contingency, tenant improvement allowances, CIP, lease accounting, internal labor capitalization, asset retirements and impairments, construction taxes, security, reporting, and integration with Oracle Financials. The role owns the Project Accounting solution from discovery through design, conversion, testing, cutover and hypercare. It includes conversion strategy and reconciliation, capital reporting replacement, training and end-user adoption, and coordination with Financials on chart of accounts, Subledger Accounting, Fixed Assets, Payables and Procurement. The SME will use Tessera's AI platform and agents to document processes, draft configuration and test materials, and reconcile conversions, while reviewing their outputs and contributing Oracle PPM and capital accounting expertise back into the platform. Success means delivering an auditable, standard-aligned Project Accounting solution that supports the store development program, asset reporting and financial close, and is adopted by finance and construction teams as their normal way of working. The posting describes first-year milestones at months 1, 3 and 6, including platform fluency, completion and sign-off of design, reconciled conversion cycles, a validated reporting suite, and training readiness.

Requirements

  • 12+ years in Oracle project accounting, including 5+ years hands-on with Oracle Fusion Cloud PPM.
  • At least two full-lifecycle Oracle Fusion PPM implementations that migrated capital project accounting from a legacy ERP or non-ERP environment.
  • Experience leading fit-gap analysis and current-state assessment, including requirements traceability matrices, gap logs with dispositions and solution recommendations for business leadership.
  • Ability to reverse-engineer undocumented legacy systems, custom programs and spreadsheet processes into clear business requirements.
  • Hands-on greenfield configuration across Project Costing, Project Control and Project Assets, including capitalization options, asset cost allocation, asset line generation and transfer to Oracle Fusion Assets.
  • Hands-on Oracle Fusion Budgetary Control and capital-project encumbrance experience, including control budgets, funds checking and encumbrance of requisitions and purchase orders.
  • Strong understanding of capital project accounting, including CIP, capitalization policy and thresholds, asset capitalization, retirement and impairment, pre-opening cost treatment and internal labor capitalization.
  • Experience with construction cost management in Oracle, including change orders, contingency, retainage, tenant improvement allowances, CIP and ASC 842 lease accounting.
  • Experience designing project time capture and labor costing using Project Resource Management or timecards and labor rate schedules.
  • Experience designing Fusion security, including role provisioning, project-level data security and segregation of duties.
  • Working knowledge of US sales and use tax on construction spend, including self-assessment and multi-state treatment.
  • Experience with data conversion and reconciliation using FBDI, ADFdi and REST APIs, including open projects, budgets, commitments and CIP balances.
  • Working knowledge of Subledger Accounting, including writing and testing account derivation rules, month-end close and subledger-to-General Ledger reconciliation.
  • Track record delivering capital reporting suites using OTBI and BI Publisher, and proficiency with Functional Setup Manager.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail and judgment to distinguish genuine business requirements from legacy habits.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams, non-finance operational users and legacy system owners who may resist change.
  • Ability to learn a new AI platform quickly and reach fluency in the Tessera platform within the first months.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Technology or a related field.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Design and configure Oracle Fusion PPM from a clean baseline, including project units and types, capitalization options, expenditure categories and types, class categories, burden structures, rate schedules, asset cost allocation and project templates and work breakdown structures.
  • Design store build-out accounting and controls, including capitalize-versus-expense treatment, CIP accumulation, asset transfers and depreciation setup.
  • Lead design decisions for capital-project Budgetary Control, encumbrances, control budgets, tolerances, funds checking and appropriation approvals.
  • Design change-order and contingency processes, tenant improvement allowance tracking and handoff to lease accounting, internal labor time capture and capitalization, asset retirements and impairment, and multi-state construction sales and use tax treatment.
  • Design Fusion role provisioning, project-level data security and segregation of duties, and document controls for audit.
  • Jointly design and sign off on the chart of accounts and Subledger Accounting with the Oracle Fusion Financials consultant; coordinate on Fixed Assets, Payables and Procurement configuration and reconciliation.
  • Define conversion scope and strategy for projects, tasks, budgets, cost history, commitments, CIP balances and identifier cross-references; execute and iterate conversion loads using FBDI and REST; and plan treatment of in-flight projects at cutover.
  • Own conversion reconciliation of CIP, project budgets and committed amounts to the legacy trial balance and Oracle General Ledger, resolving variances with Corporate Accounting.
  • Replace and rationalize legacy capital reports, then design and deliver reporting in OTBI, BI Publisher and Fusion dashboards and validate reports against converted data and the General Ledger.
  • Develop and execute conference room pilot, system integration, conversion and user acceptance tests covering the capital project lifecycle.
  • Author and maintain process documentation, fit-gap logs, configuration workbooks, functional design documents, conversion specifications and design decision logs.
  • Develop training materials and train construction project managers, field personnel and other end users; contribute to cutover planning and the Project Accounting runbook.
  • Provide post-go-live hypercare, resolve cost import, distribution, asset-line and reconciliation issues at root cause, transition knowledge to support, and assess quarterly-update impacts.
