OR Support Technician
About The Position
The OR Support Technician performs housekeeping duties designated to maintain a safe environment in accordance with AORN Standards. The role works with the surgical team to move equipment and supplies into the operating room for setup, open sterile supplies, and clean and sterilize instruments under the team’s direction. The technician also helps remove dirty instruments, suction canisters, and other items as needed, and supports the patient care team in maintaining smooth operations and customer service. Additional responsibilities include vendor management and specialized purchasing orders.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic computer experience, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Proven experience in procurement, inventory management, or supply chain management, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend medical terminology.
- Ability to effectively convey verbal and written information and follow directions.
- Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations correctly.
- Ability to respond appropriately to emergency situations.
- Ability to adapt availability to variable and changing hospital needs, including all shifts.
- Ability to function effectively as a member of a collaborative team.
- Ability to organize and manage time effectively and set appropriate priorities.
- Ability to comply with TJC and OSHA standards.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

- Assist with opening sterile supplies under the direction of the surgical team.
- Assist with instrument cleaning and sterilization under the direction of the surgical team.
- Work with the surgical team to remove dirty instruments, suction canisters, and other items as required.
- Support the patient care team to ensure smooth operations and customer service.
- Manage vendors and specialized purchasing orders.
