Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience working in a surgical services, operating room, procedural scheduling, or related healthcare setting.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, clinical staff, and other departments.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with surgical scheduling, electronic health records, or healthcare billing systems preferred.
- Experience with OR Manager, iCare, or similar systems preferred.
Responsibilities
- Schedule surgical procedures in the appropriate computer systems, completing all required fields accurately and within established timeframes.
- Verify patient, procedure, provider, and scheduling information to help ensure an accurate and complete surgical schedule.
- Enter postoperative surgical data and patient charges into OR Manager, iCare, and other applicable systems.
- Review daily reports to confirm procedures, patient accounts, and charges have been entered correctly.
- Identify scheduling discrepancies, missing information, and potential conflicts and work with the appropriate teams to resolve them.
- Communicate schedule changes, cancellations, additions, and potential concerns to physicians, clinical teams, and other departments in a timely manner.
- Prepare and distribute the final surgical schedule to applicable departments and team members.
- Compile, review, and distribute scheduling reports used by surgical services and other areas of the organization.
- Maintain accurate scheduling records and documentation in accordance with departmental, regulatory, and organizational requirements.
- Collaborate with surgeons, physician offices, nursing teams, anesthesia, registration, and other partners to support efficient surgical operations.
- Protect patient confidentiality and handle sensitive information in accordance with privacy and security requirements.
