About The Position

Adyen is seeking an experienced Optimization Manager to join its Performance Optimization Team in Chicago. The role focuses on managing the full payments funnel to create business impact, identify growth opportunities, and optimize payment and fraud performance at scale. The Optimization Manager contributes to customer optimization strategies and works with Commercial, Professional Services, Product, and Data teams to develop data-driven insights, self-service analytics, and scalable automation solutions. The role also engages directly with key customers to improve performance across risk, authentication, tokenization, and authorization, supporting higher approval rates, lower fraud, and cost efficiencies. The Optimization Manager helps promote adoption of Adyen optimization products such as Protect and Uplift by connecting customer needs with commercial and product teams and translating insights into value propositions. The position is based in Adyen’s Chicago office, with an office-first expectation of working in the office at least three days per week on average.

Requirements

At least 3 years of experience in Risk, Payment Performance, Data, or a similar role within the payments industry.
Strong stakeholder management skills, including engagement with customers and cross-functional teams to define needs and drive impact.
Ownership and entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to prioritize and execute independently.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present insights and clearly synthesize complex topics.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment with global teams and international customers.
Ability to communicate the importance of risk management in payments optimization.
High self-motivation and a focus on improving processes and efficiency.
Strong data analysis and correlation skills, including the ability to work with complex and unfamiliar data sets.
Authorization to work in the United States without needing new visa sponsorship; Adyen can support visa transfers but will not sponsor individuals for H-1B CAP applications.

Experience creating impactful dashboards using business intelligence tools such as Looker or Tableau.

Responsibilities

Partner with commercial teams to showcase Adyen’s value proposition and drive adoption through commercial environments and merchant-facing communications.
Work with Data Analysts to use data-driven insights in merchant conversations.
Lead high-level discussions with existing and prospective customers, and equip commercial teams with tools and training for merchant engagements.
Provide internal guidance and direct merchant-facing support as a payment optimization expert.
Analyze Adyen’s customer portfolio using existing tools and deploy sophisticated optimization playbooks.
Identify opportunities to introduce and drive adoption of Adyen solutions such as Protect and Uplift, connecting customers and product teams to help customers maximize performance.
Host training sessions, workshops, and drop-in Q&A sessions on optimization and risk for internal and external audiences.
Assist with tasks that support the effective operation of the Optimization team.
Develop positive relationships with key regional customers and serve as a trusted point of contact.
Support optimization across risk, authentication, tokenization, and authorization to improve approval rates, reduce fraud, and increase cost efficiency.
