About The Position
Warby Parker is seeking skilled, enthusiastic Opticians to join its in-house optical team. The Optician helps customers with their eyewear needs, delivers exceptional customer service, and develops expertise in the brand and its products. The role involves taking and recording measurements, fitting and adjusting eyewear, checking finished products against optical standards and customer requests, and explaining prescriptions and product offerings. Opticians also help customers select frames and lenses suited to their prescriptions, fit, style, and lifestyle; collaborate with teammates on customer service and sales practices; and represent Warby Parker's brand, values, and mission. The position is suited to a detail-oriented, adaptable lifelong learner who enjoys eyewear and retail and works well in a fast-paced team environment.
Requirements
- Be a licensed dispensing optician in states that require a license, or an ABO-certified optician in states without licensing requirements.
- Passionate about the eyewear and retail industries.
- Clear, effective, professional communication skills, including the ability to explain technical terms in an accessible way.
- Dedicated to exceeding expectations for customers and teammates.
- Energetic, positive team player who can adapt to a fast-paced, changing work environment.
- Extremely detail-oriented and able to manage a wide range of responsibilities.
- Open-minded and committed to continued learning.
- Not listed on the Office of Inspector General's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
Responsibilities
- Work directly with customers to meet their eyewear needs.
- Take and record measurements, adjust eyewear, and ensure accurate fitting.
- Check finished eyewear against optical standards and customer requirements and requests.
- Explain prescription terminology and product offerings to customers.
- Work with the team to provide exceptional customer service.
- Help customers select frames and lenses based on prescription needs, fit, personal style, and lifestyle.
- Collaborate with the team to develop sales and customer-service best practices for broader organizational use.
- Represent the brand and educate others about Warby Parker's values and mission.
