About The Position

As an Optician, customer service is the top priority. The role assists patients with selecting and ordering eyewear, adjustments and fittings, and education on proper eyeglass and contact lens care. The Optician uses initiative and organizational skills to support efficient operations and provides an exceptional patient experience through enthusiasm and product knowledge.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• ABO and NCLE credentials are required within 6 months of hire.
• Be detail-oriented and reliable, and able to multitask in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong computer skills, including Word and Excel.
• Flexible schedule working Monday through Friday.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Previous optical experience preferred; the employer is willing to train an eager learner.
• ABO and NCLE credentials are a plus.
• Licensed Dispensing Optician (LDO) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Interpret prescriptions and help patients choose appropriate eyewear, consulting with prescribing physicians as appropriate.
• Take optical measurements necessary for eyewear preparation.
• Order eyewear from the laboratory based on prescriptions and patient preferences.
• Inspect lenses and frames for quality.
• Adjust eyewear for patients using appropriate tools and instruct them on cleaning and handling.
• Make necessary repairs using appropriate parts and tools.
• Maintain equipment and inventory of supplies.
