About The Position

The Optician I ensures patients receive the best quality of care. The role involves helping patients select corrective lenses and frames that suit their medical needs and lifestyle preferences, while meeting sales goals and maintaining inventory. The position reports to the Practice Manager, or their designee. It is a full-time, non-exempt position in the Opticians department.

• Optical experience is preferred but not required; training will be provided to the right person.

Responsibilities

• Review physicians’ prescriptions and orders based on medical charts.
• Educate patients about corrective lens options and help them choose options that fit their medical needs and lifestyle preferences.
• Provide honest, compassionate feedback about patients’ aesthetic choices in frames.
• Achieve sales goals and quotas while attending to patients’ specific needs and desires.
• Manage frame and contact lens inventory to support customer satisfaction and product variety.
• Communicate with physicians about questions or concerns regarding prescriptions and other eye-related issues.
• Perform eyewear adjustments and repairs.
• Place optical orders with a general understanding of insurance benefits.
