About The Position

This OPS Senior Clerk position is in the Office of the Attorney General within the Civil Legal Services Unit - Child Support Enforcement in Tampa, Florida. The Office represents the State of Florida in state and federal civil and criminal courts, from trial courts to the Supreme Court of the United States.

Requirements

  • Two years of secretarial or clerical work experience.
  • College education from an accredited institution can substitute on a year for year basis for each year of the required work experience.
  • Vocational/Technical training in the area of secretarial science or office/business studies can substitute at the rate of 720 classroom hours for each year of the required work experience.
  • A high school diploma or its equivalent can substitute for one year of the required work experience.
  • Must maintain thorough working knowledge of agency and legal activities as well as child support policies and procedures.
  • Ability to use computers and related technology and software efficiently.
  • Candidate profile (application) must be completed in its entirety.
  • Include supervisor names and phone numbers for all periods of employment.
  • Account for and explain any gaps in employment so that the hiring process is not delayed.
  • Experience, education, training, knowledge, skills and/or abilities as well as responses to pre-qualifying questions must be verifiable to meet the minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Scanning and archiving of files to eliminate the physical files currently housed in our file room.
  • Update activity and status in all necessary databases to meet deadlines and contractual performance standards.
  • Timely review and triage all incoming mail (electronic and/or hard copy), update in appropriate databases, and accurately distribute or process for next appropriate action.
  • Performs miscellaneous office administration tasks such as filing, photocopying, scanning, e-filing, faxing, and delivers documents to partners.
  • Answer multi-line telephones, direct callers appropriately, and check voicemail daily.
  • Assist the legal assistants, paralegals and/or attorneys with post court related activities as directed.
