About The Position

Up to 40 hours a week. Join Our Growing Ophthalmology Team as an Ophthalmic Technician! Our established multi-specialty Ophthalmology group is seeking a skilled professional to join our friendly and dedicated team. If you're passionate about providing exceptional patient care and eager to grow in a supportive environment, we want to hear from you! Cross trained in Belleville. Responsible for tech/scribe needs but will also liaise for multi-site appointments, prior authorizations, and ensuring injectables are ordered. Supports Dr Arnett practices within North NJ. Sites are Woodland Park, Jersey City, Ridgewood/Paramus, Belleville and possibly Union. General ophthalmology/retina required. We are growing our Retina schedule in Woodland Park and need someone who can establish venous access (venipuncture) and prepare patients for fluorescein dye injection.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Ophthalmic Technician.
  • Knowledge of medical office procedures.
  • Ability to perform indirect activities, administrative tasks and any other assigned duties that contribute to the efficient & high-quality performance of the medical practice.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A passion for patient care and a commitment to excellence.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Gather comprehensive patient information, ensuring accurate diagnoses and personalized treatment plans.
  • Conduct thorough preliminary examinations, including visual acuity, pupillary responses, and more.
  • Administer a range of diagnostic tests, such as OCT, perimetry, and ophthalmic photography.
  • Support ophthalmologists during minor surgeries, laser procedures, and crosslinking.
  • Efficiently manage patient flow in clinic and imaging rooms, collaborating with clinical staff.
  • Administer eye drops (Certification Required).
  • Perform clinical and administrative tasks, ensuring a smooth and organized workflow.
  • Liaise for multi-site appointments, prior authorizations, and ensuring injectables are ordered.
  • Establish venous access (venipuncture) and prepare patients for fluorescein dye injection.
