About The Position

Mid Atlantic Retina is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to support patient care in its retina practice. The role includes taking patient histories in the EMR system, performing vision exams, preparing patients for injections, administering drops, performing imaging tests, completing charting and scribing, and carrying out other related tasks. The position offers a $1,000 hiring incentive to eligible new hires: $500 after successfully completing 90 days of employment and $500 after successfully completing one year. The incentive is not available to agency hires, internal transfers, or re-hires.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Desire to work with patients.
Ability to meet the physical and cognitive demands described, including standing and walking throughout the day, lifting or moving objects weighing over 20 pounds, and raising the dominant arm above shoulder height to administer drops.
Required vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, as well as the ability to adjust focus.
Ability to use hands and demonstrate manual or finger dexterity, precision, muscular coordination, and physical stamina.
Ability to observe and examine patients attentively, process data on a computer, handle numbers and records, and communicate, read, and write effectively.

Nice To Haves

One year of health care experience or equivalent medical training is desired but not required.

Responsibilities

Take patient histories in the EMR system.
