About The Position

Eye Surgical Associates is hiring an Ophthalmic Technician I for its ophthalmology practice in Lincoln, Nebraska. The role is an entry point into the medical field and includes training in ophthalmology skills, terminology, and diagnostic technology. Employees can cross-train across multiple specialties and advance through certification levels; the organization also supports CPR certification and Medication Aide licensure. The technician serves as a first point of contact for patients, prepares them for visits, performs diagnostic testing, and supports ophthalmologists during examinations and in-office surgical procedures. The position is full-time, with 80 hours per pay period and flexible weekday shifts between 6:45 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Occasional travel to satellite clinics may be required.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Genuine interest in healthcare and eagerness to learn complex new skills.
Ability to follow precise medical instructions and manage data accurately.
Strong interpersonal communication skills and a team-first attitude.
Ability to obtain CPR certification within 60 days.
Ability to obtain Medication Aide licensure within 90 days.

Responsibilities

Room patients and document medical histories, medications, and the primary reason for their visit.
Learn to operate diagnostic equipment to perform visual acuity tests and specialized eye imaging.
Assist ophthalmologists during examinations and in-office surgical procedures.
Provide a compassionate, professional experience for patients of all ages.
