Ophthalmic Scribe/Tech
About The Position
Spectrum Vision Partners / OCLI Vision is seeking a patient-focused Ophthalmic Scribe/Tech – Level 1 to support physicians in delivering high-quality, patient-centered eye care. This cross-trained clinical role involves supporting patient intake and workups, performing routine ophthalmic testing, assisting with examinations and minor procedures, and documenting real-time clinical interactions in the electronic medical record. The role works closely with physicians and the clinical team to maintain accurate records, efficient patient flow, and a positive patient experience.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Strong documentation, typing, communication, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment and cross-train in scribe and technician duties.
- Complete the Ophthalmic Scribe-Tech Level 1 competency checklist within 90 days of hire.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with EMR/EHR applications; NextGen is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of ocular pharmacology and ophthalmic terminology.
- Previous customer service and/or medical experience.
Responsibilities
- Verify patient identity, prepare patients for examinations, and document medical and ocular histories, medications, and allergies.
- Conduct routine ophthalmic testing within training and competency and assist with examinations and minor procedures.
- Accurately record provider interactions, diagnoses, treatment plans, prescriptions, and patient instructions in the EMR.
- Track testing, medication, and follow-up orders and maintain complete patient records.
- Prepare and maintain exam rooms, equipment, and supplies; follow infection prevention protocols and universal precautions.
- Work collaboratively with physicians, technicians, and clinical staff to support safe, efficient, patient-centered care.
