As an Ophthalmology Assistant at Insight Vision Care, you will provide critical support to the clinical team by assisting with patient care, performing diagnostic testing, and ensuring smooth clinical operations. This role also offers cross-training opportunities in front desk and clinical scribe responsibilities, enabling you to develop a well-rounded skill set and provide seamless support across the practice. Requirements

  • Knowledge of ophthalmology or optometry practices, including understanding anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to eye health.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems.
  • Strong understanding of medical coding and billing processes specific to ophthalmology or optometry services.
  • Experience in retail sales or customer service roles enhances the ability to engage with patients effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient workups, including taking detailed medical and ocular histories.
  • Conduct diagnostic tests such as visual acuity, tonometry, visual fields, OCT, and fundus photography.
  • Administer eye drops, dilating drops, and other medications as directed by the provider.
  • Assist providers during examinations and minor procedures, ensuring patient comfort and efficiency.
  • Maintain and calibrate ophthalmic instruments and equipment as required.
  • Additional duties as assigned to enhance a team working environment.
  • Educate patients on medications, treatments, and postoperative care.
  • Provide guidance on the proper use of eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other visual aids.
  • Answer patient questions and address concerns with professionalism and empathy.
