About The Position

The production operator is assigned to a specific cell or work area on a production shift and is responsible for the efficient operation of production equipment. The role includes operating multiple lines, inspecting and measuring products, supporting production start-ups and changeovers, and following operational, safety, and housekeeping procedures. The employee may also relieve or assist other operators and perform other duties as required. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with no prior experience or training required. The role requires basic English reading, writing, and speaking abilities; basic arithmetic skills; and the ability to follow detailed but straightforward written or oral instructions and address simple problems in standardized situations. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, frequently exposed to extreme cold and heat, and occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. Noise levels are usually loud. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
No prior experience or training required.
Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable English words and recognize similarities and differences between words and number series.
Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply and divide with tens and hundreds, including using American money and units of weight, volume, and distance.
Ability to apply common-sense understanding to detailed but straightforward written or oral instructions and deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

Comply with all company policies and procedures.
Operate multiple production lines, including loading gaskets and packaging finished product for shipment.
Visually inspect products for quality assurance.
Measure and record pipe dimensions as required and take appropriate action according to SPC charting.
Control dimensions to maintain pipe specifications under direct supervision.
Move bundled pipe, including scrap and good product, from the work area.
Assist with production line start-up activities and changeovers.
Follow operational and safety procedures.
Cut and band scrap as directed.
Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area in accordance with housekeeping standards.
Understand belling operations.
Immediately report equipment malfunctions, product defects, and unsafe conditions.
Read and understand SOPs in the Operator Manual.
Relieve and assist other operators as needed.
Work as a team with other personnel.
Perform other duties as required.
