The Utility Worker supports processing and packaging frozen food products on production lines at Rich’s Brunswick facility. The role involves learning to direct processing or packaging activities, meeting quality specifications and production needs, and working safely, efficiently, and cooperatively with the Team Leader and coworkers. Utility Operators are cross-functionally trained to assist wherever needed, track key performance indicators, and learn to operate every piece of equipment so they can move between assignments as needed. The position performs tasks across both pack-end and wet-end operations. Pack-end work includes operating or covering the bagger, carton former, carton sealer, and robot, verifying date codes, checking bag counts, completing and following up on CIL and CL tasks, assisting with shift setup and handoff, and filling in for the Senior Operator when absent. Wet-end work includes operating or covering the Vemag, batter, and fryer, following up on CIL and CL tasks and nozzle sizes, ensuring the MLO is set up correctly, performing and ensuring proper changeovers, and checking raw and fried weights. The role requires flexibility to assist with early or late shift schedules. The employee must follow safe work practices, good manufacturing practices, housekeeping procedures, and product safety and quality requirements. They identify processing or product problems and resolve them when within their training, or communicate them to the appropriate person. The position also requires maintaining respectful working relationships, contributing to team productivity and plant profitability, and suggesting process improvements. Regular handling of cheese and other ingredients is required; severe allergies to listed food ingredients, cardboard dust, latex, or chlorine may prevent performance of the essential functions.
