About The Position

PSE&G is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Operator Qualification (OQ) Evaluator to join the Operator Qualification team within the Transformation & Centralized Service organization at our Edison, NJ location. This team ensures that more than 900 Gas Distribution employees maintain compliance with federal and state regulatory requirements. The OQ Evaluator is an individual contributor responsible for proctoring and conducting hands-on performance evaluations, maintaining qualification records, and ensuring field personnel demonstrate proficiency in covered tasks according to PSE&G procedures and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Gas Distribution
  • Strong hands-on understanding of Gas Distribution field operations, safety requirements, and related technical procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience evaluating operator performance or training field personnel in practical settings.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform evaluations with consistency, precision, and repeatability.
  • Ability to remain neutral, fair, and professional during evaluations.
  • Comfort working in a predictable, routine environment with steady daily workflows.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while also collaborating effectively within a team environment.
  • Must become certified as an Operator Qualification Evaluator within 90 days of hire.
  • Compliance with the Department of Energy's regulation 10 CFR 810 is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of adult learning techniques along with classroom presentation, facilitation, and training skills
  • Familiarity with federal OQ regulations and requirements
  • Completion of Gas Session I and II
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems

Responsibilities

  • Proctor exams and perform hands-on evaluations in accordance with PSE&G’s Operator Qualification Written Plan, covered task job specifications, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Verify that Gas Distribution field personnel are properly qualified and executing covered tasks in compliance with company procedures and industry standards.
  • Track, record, and report daily OQ completions with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Support the interpretation of regulatory requirements and their applicability to PSE&G operational procedures.
  • Contribute to reviewing, improving and/or developing training materials, and apprenticeship curriculum modules as needed.
  • Provide routine technical guidance to support supervisors, managers, and field employees regarding OQ processes and requirements.
  • Participate in storm response efforts as assigned, including periodic on-call responsibilities for the Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
