About The Position

The Operator Helper trains to perform the duties of a Senior Operator Helper at Hawaiian Electric Company’s diesel plant and performs general maintenance as assigned. The role works a shift with a Senior Operator Helper and an Operator, and may stand watch in a relief capacity as a Senior Operator Helper once qualified. The employee keeps equipment and the work area clean, maintains watch until relieved, and may be assigned an emergency management role and specific emergency functions.

Requirements

Ability to identify and distinguish colors, including shades, hues, and tints.
Possess and maintain a valid driver's license issued by Hawaii or another U.S. state or territory.
Meet the standards for driving positions in the Company's Driver Safety policy, which may be adjusted periodically.
Pass the Edison Electric Institute Plant Operator Selection System (POSS); employees who have passed the Differential Aptitude Test (DAT) do not need to take the POSS.
Pass the Job Sample Test.

Responsibilities

Train to perform the duties of a Senior Operator Helper at the diesel plant.
Work a shift with a Senior Operator Helper and an Operator.
Perform assigned operational maintenance work at the diesel plant.
When qualified, stand watch in a relief capacity as a Senior Operator Helper.
Keep equipment and the work area clean.
Maintain watch until relieved.
Assume an assigned emergency management role and perform specific emergency functions as needed, excluding routine trouble calls and callouts.
Perform similar and incidental duties as required.
