About The Position

The Operations Technician maintains safe and compliant operations, housekeeping standards, and good environmental practices. The role requires accurate and timely completion of paperwork, ongoing maintenance of qualifications, and effective communication with operations and maintenance technicians and contractors during start-up, shutdown, troubleshooting, and normal operations. The technician helps ensure team coverage, stops activities that could cause injury or environmental harm, liaises with contractors, promptly reports significant problems to the Operations Supervisor, and takes corrective action or suggests alternatives when necessary. Other duties may be assigned by Operations Supervisors or Site Management.

Responsibilities

Maintain safe work practices and comply with company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
Maintain housekeeping standards.
Demonstrate good environmental practices through continuous improvement.
Complete all paperwork accurately and on time.
Maintain qualifications by staying current with process changes and routinely performing other operational roles.
Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with operations technicians, maintenance technicians, and contractors during start-up, shutdown, troubleshooting, and normal operations.
Post vacation intent in a timely manner and volunteer for coverage when the team determines it is necessary.
Stop activities that could result in personnel injury or environmental harm.
Liaise with contractors, including arranging their expulsion from the site if necessary.
Promptly notify the Operations Supervisor of problems or unusual matters of significance, take corrective action when necessary, or suggest alternative courses of action.
Complete other duties assigned by Operations Supervisors or Site Management.
