About The Position

The Operations Shift Leader provides hands-on leadership on a production shift in a fast-paced, Just in Time food manufacturing plant. Reporting to the Operations Leader and Site Leader, this role ensures production schedules are met safely and on time while reducing costs and improving efficiencies. The position leads production Line Leaders, Team Leaders, and shift crews, and coordinates schedules, products, and staffing with supporting departments. The scheduled shift is nights, 10:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., with flexibility to arrive earlier or stay later for shift huddles, handovers, and shift transitions. The role may require flexibility to work days, afternoons, nights, and weekends as needed. FGF Brands is a North American bakery company with facilities across the USA and Canada. Requirements

At least 3–4 years of leadership experience; manufacturing leadership is strongly preferred.
Demonstrated ability to lead, interact with, and motivate a team to meet schedule demands.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Basic mathematical abilities.
Ability to manage difficult people using conflict resolution, team engagement, and collaboration.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Flexibility to work days, afternoons, nights, and weekends if needed.
Working knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, and O.H.S.A.
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook).

Post-secondary education is an asset.
Manufacturing leadership experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead production Line Leaders, Team Leaders, and shift crews, fostering mutual respect and teamwork.
Coordinate department schedules, products, and staffing to keep plant production running smoothly, prioritizing support teams when needed.
Ensure production schedules and output targets are met; follow up on and address problems that arise.
Provide orientation and training to support an effective and efficient workforce.
Maintain a safe working environment through enforcement of company standards and regular inspections; ensure proper methods and procedures are followed and quality, safety, and environmental standards are met.
Assist with testing new equipment, methods, and products; troubleshoot processes and equipment, using a basic understanding of plant equipment.
Use SAP and the WMS system.
Complete daily KPI reports and follow up with Line Leaders and Team Leaders on output targets.
Manage and update the shift Skills Matrix and provide updated job and break rotation schedules to the leadership team.
Create a weekly shift schedule spreadsheet and schedule the correct number of Team Members based on standard crew profiles.
Support the leadership team with performance and behavioral concerns involving Team Members and complete performance feedback processes.
Update and provide daily huddle sheets for leaders before shift start.
Answer radio calls, and cellphone calls where applicable, from other departments.
Create daily time and attendance schedules for the shift and clear time and attendance exceptions.
Ensure Team Members are assigned to the correct line and track lateness and absences.
Monitor lot control, refill bin activity, and finished-goods or materials inventory activity.
Stage materials on time to continue scanning finished goods in packaging.
Support Line Leaders with updating the shift report when required.
Fulfill production-area leadership duties related to Good Manufacturing Practices, food safety programs, health and safety programs, and company policies, programs, and procedures.
