About The Position

As the Senior Manager on shift in the American Centrifuge Plant, the Operations Shift Coordinator represents the Plant Manager, American Centrifuge Plant Operations and has the authority and responsibility to make decisions, as necessary, to ensure safe operations. The Operations Shift Coordinator is responsible for accumulation and dissemination of information regarding plant activities to the Incident Commander during emergencies and making notification of events to regulatory agencies, as necessary. The Operations Shift Coordinators are also responsible for directing the operation of systems within the facilities necessary to support enrichment operation. The Operations Shift Coordinator authorizes the restart of equipment that has been shut down in a routine fashion when the prerequisites and limitations of the associated operating procedure are met.

Requirements

  • Possess or can obtain and maintain a “Q” level security clearance.
  • Associate of Science in Engineering, Physical Sciences or equivalent technical experience, with a high school diploma or GED or: successful completion of the US Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program, or: operational experience in another military field requiring critical thinking skills
  • 3+ years of industrial/chemical/nuclear plant operations, maintenance, or engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a similar rigorous industry or the military.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight of personnel during routine equipment monitoring, data collection and operations of centrifuges and supporting systems in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Provide oversight and senior leadership for normal off-normal and emergency response conditions.
  • Ensure all activities are clearly documented and a narrative log is maintained of shift activities and operational evolutions.
  • Accumulate and disseminate information regarding plant activities to the Incident Commander during emergencies.
  • Makes required notification of events to regulatory agencies.
  • Ensures minimum staffing requirements are met and qualified personnel are available to complete assigned work.
  • Ensures integrated system testing and execution of test plans is performed in accordance with procedures and requirements.
  • Ensures that appropriate operability determinations and associated tracking is performed for IROFS when taken out of service, returning to service, or discovered in a degraded condition.
  • Accountable for materials, parts, and supplies under their jurisdiction.
  • Responsible for safe and efficient work area and work practices.
  • Performs Change Evaluations and reviews as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
