About The Position

Layer is building accounting software and bookkeeping services within the software tools small businesses already use. The Bookkeeping Operations Manager will help scale Layer’s automated bookkeeping service, which serves close to a thousand SMBs, toward serving tens of thousands. The role is responsible for keeping day-to-day bookkeeping operations running smoothly and building the systems needed to support growth through strong people, efficient processes, and software automation. The manager will work closely with operations, bookkeeping, partnerships, and engineering teams to improve execution, remove bottlenecks, and increase team effectiveness. This is a hands-on position suited to someone who can bring structure to ambiguity, own outcomes, and improve complex operations.

Nice To Haves

• Two to five years of experience in startup operations, investment banking, management consulting, or another role requiring exceptional independent execution.

Responsibilities

• Build deep expertise in small business bookkeeping processes and Layer’s bookkeeping systems.
• Triage and investigate customer issues surfaced by the frontline bookkeeping team.
• Document and improve standard operating procedures across the bookkeeping service.
• Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, reduce manual work, and increase team efficiency.
• Manage the Philippines-based bookkeeping team and track performance metrics and SLAs.
