Whitecaps Operations Internship
About The Position
The West Michigan Whitecaps, a Class High A Minor League affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, offer a hands-on operations internship at LMCU Ballpark. The internship provides career-development training and job shadowing, with meaningful work designed to align with interns’ education and career aspirations. Under the mentorship of the Operations Manager, interns learn the operational aspects of the Whitecaps and the daily upkeep of LMCU Ballpark, as well as coordination between the Whitecaps and the Detroit Tigers. The position also provides exposure to special events and other departments through mentorship from their managers. The internship runs from no later than March 2 through September 2027 and is full-time, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Requirements
- Be a college or university junior or senior within three semesters of graduating.
- Need an internship for academic credit.
- Be pursuing a degree in Sports or Event Management, Business, or a related field.
- Have availability no later than March 2 through September 2027.
- Work full-time, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Have a valid driver’s license.
- Have a great attitude.
Responsibilities
- Learn operational aspects of the West Michigan Whitecaps and the daily upkeep of LMCU Ballpark under the Operations Manager’s mentorship.
- Learn about coordination between the Whitecaps and their MLB affiliate, the Detroit Tigers.
- Assist in overseeing the Usher, Security, Parking, Cleanup, and Gameday Operations teams.
- Help set up, coordinate, and follow through on non-baseball special events at LMCU Ballpark under the Special Events Team’s mentorship.
- Gain knowledge of other departments while working under the mentorship of departmental managers.
- Assist with field tarping as needed.
