Whitecaps People Operations (HR) Internship
About The Position
The West Michigan Whitecaps are seeking a People Operations (HR) Intern to gain hands-on career development experience through close mentorship and a job-shadow program. The internship offers exposure to every stage of the hiring process, including job fairs, job postings, phone screenings, onboarding, and employee orientation. During baseball season, the intern will also learn about scheduling, maintaining employee files, employee relations and engagement, and projects that help game days run smoothly. On game days, the intern will check in employees, ensure they clock in, and assist around the ballpark as needed. The internship is designed to provide meaningful work compatible with the intern’s education and career aspirations. The Whitecaps are the Class High-A Minor League affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, serving the West Michigan community with affordable family entertainment.
Requirements
- Be a college or university junior or senior within three semesters of graduating.
- Pursue a degree in Business, Human Resources, or a comparable field.
- Need the internship for academic credit.
- Be available no later than March 2, 2026, through mid-September 2026 or until returning to school.
- Be available to work 40 hours per week, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Have a valid driver’s license.
- Have a positive attitude.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the hiring process, including job fairs, job postings, phone screenings, onboarding, and employee orientation.
- Learn about employee scheduling and maintain employee files.
- Work on projects to help game days run smoothly.
- Gain experience in employee relations and engagement.
- Check in employees on game days and ensure they clock in.
- Assist around the ballpark wherever needed on game days.
