About The Position

Canteen, part of Compass Group, is hiring an Operations Intern for its Rochester, Minnesota metropolitan-area team for summer 2027. The internship is scheduled for May through August 2027, with dates customizable based on the student's school schedule. The role offers hands-on experience supporting client operations and real-world projects, with opportunities to learn best practices from industry leaders. Depending on business needs, the intern may work across marketing and customer service, retail and merchandising, branch operations and support services, finance, purchasing and supply chain, or profit and loss management. The intern will also gain exposure to coffee and refreshments, vending services, and Avenue C Micro-Markets. The advertised schedule is 30–40 hours per week; the eligibility requirements specify availability for 32–40 hours per week based on business needs and program requirements. Pay is $18.00 per hour.

Requirements

• Be currently enrolled in a college or professional hospitality or culinary program and provide proof of enrollment.
• Meet the school’s GPA requirement for internships.
• Be available to work 32–40 hours per week based on business needs and program requirements.
• Have strong organizational skills and be comfortable multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
• Understand the basics of customer service and client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Assist with projects that improve business performance.
• Support customer service efforts and occasionally interact with clients.
• Help organize tasks for Micro Markets, Vending, and Coffee Services.
• Share ideas to improve workflows and best practices.
• Collaborate with the team to streamline operations and increase efficiency.
