Operations Intern, Canteen / Kansas City, KS
About The Position
Canteen, part of Compass Group, is hiring an Operations Intern for its Kansas City, Kansas metropolitan area operations during Summer 2027. The internship is scheduled for May through August 2027, with dates customizable based on the student’s school schedule. Interns gain hands-on experience supporting client operations, learn industry best practices, and contribute to real-world projects. Areas of exposure may include marketing and customer service; retail and merchandising; branch operations and support services; finance, purchasing and supply chain; and profit and loss management. Interns may also learn about Canteen’s coffee and refreshments, vending, and Avenue C Micro-Markets services. The schedule is Monday through Thursday, up to 34 hours per week, with availability of 32–40 hours per week also described as dependent on business needs and program requirements. The pay range is $18.00 per hour.
Requirements
- Be currently enrolled in a college or professional hospitality or culinary program; proof of enrollment is required.
- Meet the school’s GPA requirement for internships.
- Be available to work 32–40 hours per week, based on business needs and program requirements.
- Have strong organizational skills and be comfortable multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
- Understand the basics of customer service and client relationships.
Responsibilities
- Assist with projects that improve business performance.
- Support customer service efforts and occasionally interact with clients.
- Help organize tasks for Micro Markets, Vending, and Coffee Services.
- Share ideas to improve workflows and best practices.
- Collaborate with the team to streamline operations and increase efficiency.
