About The Position

CRST is seeking energetic, focused, and driven students for their Early Talent Program within their summer internship program as an Operations Intern within their Flatbed Division based in Birmingham, Alabama. The Operations Intern will gain practical experience with CRST’s processes and transportation management practices, while helping improve the use of company assets and equipment. This role provides the opportunity to collaborate with different departments and build valuable skills for a future career in business or management. The internship offers exposure to the transportation industry, real-world problem-solving, and immersion in social and educational opportunities with other interns and leaders across the organization. Interns will work hand-in-hand with different business entities to accomplish company objectives and goals.

Requirements

• Pursuing a business-related 4-year bachelor’s degree from accredited university
• Sophomore - Junior-level college student pursuing a degree within Business, Management, Marketing, Accounting, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Finance or a similar field
• Minimum 2.5 or above GPA
• Exhibit a strong work ethic and loyalty
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Has strong aspirations for future success in business or management
• Self-starter with high personal motivation and desire to take initiative and ownership
• Ability to multi-task and problem-solve effectively
• Comfortable using Microsoft Office, including Excel
• Basic oral and written communication skills
• Maximizes relationships, fosters collaboration, and builds trust
• Applicants must be enrolled in undergraduate courses at least the fall semester following the summer internship.

Responsibilities

• Gain hands-on experience with CRST’s processes and day-to-day operations
• Learn and apply basic transportation management practices to support business functions
• Assist in improving the efficiency of company assets and equipment
• Work with various departments and develop effective communication skills
• Show a strong work ethic, loyalty, and commitment to success in all tasks
• Demonstrate interest in pursuing a career in business or management
• Handle multiple tasks and solve problems effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Learn from Senior Leaders and present project and experience at the end of the summer
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance while performing other duties as assigned to support team and business needs
• Manage and grow a portfolio of clients by working with the Sales team to identify network needs
• Solve client’s complex logistics challenges
• Work with independent business owners to ensure revenue growth through advisement regarding current industry trends and forecasts
• Use real-time data to provide instant feedback to the Account Management team to stay competitive in the market and have a high success rate on awarded business
