About The Position

The Operations Excellence Engineer will report directly to the Senior Director Global Production - Ceramics. This position focuses on operations processes to increase efficiency, quality, productivity, and cost savings. This position requires strong project management skills, experience in manufacturing, operations, and process improvements and the ability to work with a team of engineers, technologists and production associates to produce quality products in a safe and cost-effective environment.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering – Engineering, Operations, or related field
3+ years experience relevant manufacturing experience
Strong project management skills
Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills
Strong continuous improvement and process optimization

Specialized training in Operations Excellence
LSSB (Lean Six Sigma Blackbelt)
A track record of leading large scale Continuous Improvement efforts with demonstrated sustained outcomes
Strong knowledge of KPI, cost of quality, and performance tracking
Proven success in reducing waste, improving productivity, and driving cost savings
Strong strategic thinking with the ability to influence organizational change

Responsibilities

Lead cross functional improvement projects by setting goals and timelines, tracking performance, acting on data, removing roadblocks, and communicating status
Assist in the sustainability of stable operations and a Continuous Improvement culture through leadership, training and collaboration with internal and external resources
Provide leadership, engineering expertise, and excellence to the Operations and Maintenance teams in support of Safety, Quality, Productivity, Delivery, and Organizational Development initiatives
Drive continuous improvement in areas of safety, product quality, product delivery, and product cost through the analysis of plant data and collaboration with Operations and Maintenance personnel
Facilitate problem solving (root cause analysis) with corrective action through collaboration with Operations, Maintenance, and other support organizations.
Reduce product lead time via the implementation of Lean Manufacturing concepts on the production line
Standardize and improve processes and systems and ensure recommendations and results are sustained
Support business priorities and urgent needs
Assist with audits, compliance, and customer issues
Support training and rollout of improvements
Take on special projects as required
