About The Position

This position is an in-person opportunity located in Madison, WI, lasting between 3 to 9 months. It will begin in May or June 2027 and is suitable for a Summer 2027 Internship or a Summer to Fall 2027 Co-Op. You will play a pivotal role in driving cross-functional impact within Operations through continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing efficiency. For example, you will work on optimizing workflows and supporting automation initiatives with our Kit Packaging team, as well as assisting our Materials Management teams with spare parts inventory management and process improvements. The Operations Continuous Improvement Intern utilizes process improvement and data analytics tools to analyze and solve complex problems within the Operations organization. This position helps drive positive change for efficiencies in areas such as inventory control, throughput, material flow, productivity, and ergonomics/safety.

Requirements

  • Successfully completed at least one year of college and are actively pursuing a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience in leading teams or project activities.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a business, engineering, or science related field in their sophomore, junior, or senior year of school.
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Ability to solve complex problems.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in digital tools and technology, including Microsoft applications and mobile platforms, with the ability to adapt and leverage emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, to improve efficiency, automation, and collaboration.

Nice To Haves

  • Ideally pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or Supply Chain/Operations Management.
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or Supply Chain/Operations Management.
  • Experience using lean manufacturing or six sigma concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze processes and data in Operations to identify and implement improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the Operations organization. Facilitate, support, or lead project activities with these groups.
  • Utilize continuous improvement lean tools, methodologies, and training.
  • Apply data analytics methods to summarize results and build visual solutions for key performance indicators (KPIs) within Operations.
