2027 Summer Intern: Operations - Continuous Improvement
About The Position
The Hubbell Internship Program is a 10 to 12-week program providing students the opportunity to gain corporate experience, learn about all aspects of our business, and prepare students with the kind of experience needed to have a rewarding career at Hubbell. This intern will focus on advancing Lean and Continuous Improvement initiatives by supporting the implementation of the Hubbell Manufacturing System (HMS) and contributing to Building 1 Steel Department's HMS Bronze Certification efforts. Responsibilities include analyzing operational data, conducting process assessments, facilitating kaizen events, supporting 5S and visual management programs, maintaining standard work documentation, and tracking certification-related action items. The intern will also assist with continuous improvement projects focused on safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and waste reduction, while supporting the P&P and Utility Riser departments in sustaining and advancing HMS practices toward Silver Certification. Through these efforts, the intern will help drive measurable operational improvements and gain hands-on experience in Lean Manufacturing and manufacturing system deployment.
Requirements
- Full-time enrollment in an accredited college or university throughout the internship program period (May-August 2027), pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree related to the internship (required)
- Minimum 3.0 GPA (required)
- Strong interest in Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Operational Excellence, and manufacturing operations
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data to support business decisions
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and other Microsoft Office applications
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across production and cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and eager to gain hands-on experience in manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
Nice To Haves
- Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, quality systems, or manufacturing processes is preferred but not required
- Prior project-based coursework, involvement in student organizations, manufacturing experience, or previous internships is a plus

Benefits
- Intern compensation is determined based on academic standing and expected graduation date. Hourly rates for this position range from $22.50 to $29.00 per hour ($46,800–$60,320 annualized equivalent).
