About The Position

The Operational Excellence Director will be responsible for development and leadership of a world-class operation supporting current business needs and growth. This role is responsible for establishing and implementing the strategic plan for the Columbus Blades business in a complex site, establishing, and executing production and quality objectives, strategic planning of manpower and process improvements and maximize labor and equipment utilization. Lead cost reduction efforts and process improvements to ensure efficiency and cost effectiveness Lead capital planning and deployment to ensure investments align with long‑term capability Drive yield improvement and delivery performance for the Blades business. Drive talent development across the OpX team and ensure ready now successors for key positions Accountable for overall safety of the workforce, through strategic direction and cultural deployment of leading indicators Enhance CORE (Customer Oriented Results and Excellence) and SPS along with the operational procedure, systems and principles in the areas of information flow and management, business processes, and enhanced management reporting to achieve world class safety, quality, delivery and cost. Lead end‑to‑end NPI execution, ensuring new products are industrialized with world‑class quality, stable processes, and predictable ramp‑up performance. Champion technology insertion initiatives that improve quality, reduce variation, and enhance operational efficiency

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 14 or more years of experience in an engineering, manufacturing operations management, production or similar environment OR a Master's degree and 12 or more years of experience in an engineering, manufacturing operations management, production or similar industrial environment
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles (Kaizen events or experience with a continuous improvement program)
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with direct supervisory experience of a large scope
  • Experience working in the aerospace industry

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated, high‑precision manufacturing environments.
  • Background in automation, digital manufacturing, advanced machining, or next‑generation manufacturing technologies.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or CORE certification (Black Belt or equivalent).
  • Experience leading capital strategy, technology roadmaps, and large‑scale transformation
