About The Position

The Operational Account Manager, Operations, Road Transport is responsible for managing the day-to-day transportation operations for assigned customer accounts while ensuring exceptional customer service and operational execution. This role serves as a primary point of contact for customers, coordinating freight movements, resolving service issues, managing shipment activity, and ensuring timely and accurate communication throughout the shipment lifecycle. The Operational Account Manager works closely with carriers, internal operations teams, and customers to support account retention, operational efficiency, and overall customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience with transportation management systems (TMS) is required.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with customers, carriers, and internal teams.
  • Strong customer service orientation and relationship-building abilities.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.
  • Ability to coordinate, plan, and route inbound and outbound freight movements effectively.
  • Ability to track shipments, resolve operational issues, and maintain service quality standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality.
  • Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively within a team environment.
  • Working knowledge of transportation operations, freight brokerage processes, and industry terminology.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to learn and navigate transportation management systems and related software platforms.
  • Intermediate mathematical and analytical skills.
  • English language proficiency in reading, writing, and verbal communication.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in logistics, transportation brokerage, supply chain, or a related operational environment preferred.
  • Experience managing customer accounts and transportation operations in a fast-paced environment preferred.
  • Prior experience coordinating freight movements and working with carriers and customers preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily transportation operations for assigned customer accounts while ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and service execution.
  • Coordinate and expedite freight movements to fulfill customer transportation requirements.
  • Serve as a primary operational point of contact for customers regarding shipment activity, service updates, and issue resolution.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, carriers, and internal operational teams.
  • Analyze customer orders and support complex load planning and load-building activities.
  • Independently assess operational situations and resolve issues in the best interest of both the customer and the company.
  • Provide reporting, shipment updates, and operational metrics to customers as requested.
  • Collaborate with Account Managers and operational teams to ensure proper load coverage and maximize carrier utilization opportunities.
  • Audit system data throughout the billing process, including shipment validation and load accuracy.
  • Track shipments proactively and communicate pertinent load information to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with Accounting, Credit, and Settlement departments to resolve customer inquiries and account discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate and complete shipment documentation and system entries.
  • Support transportation rate negotiations and customer quoting activities as needed.
  • Promote the DSV Road Transport brand through professional customer interactions and operational excellence.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
