The OT Field Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, testing, installation, monitoring, and servicing of all types of service provisioning equipment that provides data and communications systems. This includes working with technologies and protocols such as Fiber optic backbone and distribution systems, LTE/licensed-unlicensed wireless systems, point-to-point/point-to-multipoint radio networks, carrier-class Ethernet Switch/Routers, TCP/IP, Ethernet equipment, and connecting telecommunications interfaces. The role involves the construction, operation, and maintenance of communication lines, wireless data, fiber optic data lines, wireless tower lines, and wireless services. Responsibilities include the installation and maintenance of network equipment, configuration of various devices, interpreting network drawings, schematics, and technical manuals, and implementing design parameters. The technician will install and troubleshoot fiber, voice, and data circuits using appropriate test equipment, demonstrate exceptional communication, customer service, technical, and problem-solving skills, and use necessary tools safely and efficiently. The role requires working independently in remote locations with extreme weather conditions, installing and maintaining emergency power systems (battery plants, solar-battery setups, back-up generators), terminating, splicing, and testing fiber optic cables, performing site surveys, determining material lists and labor hours for sales proposals, monitoring the network for alarms and trends to prevent outages, and adhering to OSHA and FCC safety guidelines. Identifying and reporting potential safety hazards is also a key responsibility.
