About The Position

Munson Healthcare is seeking an Operating Room Technician to support clinical care in the operating room. The role contributes to patient safety and care by assisting OR staff, transporting surgical patients, preparing rooms and supplies, and supporting procedures. Employees are expected to work independently, communicate effectively, provide excellent customer service, maintain professional interactions, and adapt to changes. The position is full-time and lists a Day/PM shift in Traverse City, Michigan.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• BCLS certification is required or must be obtained within six months of hire.
• Ability to perform duties in a self-directed fashion.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Professional and positive interactions.
• Flexibility and adaptability to changes.
• Employees must be vaccinated or have lab-confirmed immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, and Varicella; employees must also receive an annual flu vaccine or have an approved medical or religious exemption.

Responsibilities

• Open sterile supplies and instruments as directed by operating room staff.
• Safely transport surgical patients to and from the operating room.
• Assist with positioning and preparing patients.
• Obtain and return equipment and supplies for procedures.
• Assist with operating room turnover and cleaning between procedures.
• Maintain supply par levels within the operating room.
• Perform specimen hand-off and follow policy for proper specimen handling.
