About The Position

The Operating Room Technician supports clinical care in the operating room by preparing sterile supplies and instruments, transporting surgical patients, assisting with patient positioning and preparation, obtaining and returning equipment and supplies, helping turn over and clean operating rooms between procedures, maintaining supply levels, and handling specimen hand-offs according to policy. The role requires self-directed work, effective communication and interpersonal skills, customer service, professionalism, and adaptability.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• BCLS certification is required or must be obtained within six months of hire.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties in a self-directed fashion.
• Open sterile supplies and instruments as directed by operating room staff.
• Safely transport surgical patients to and from the operating room.
• Assist with positioning and prepping patients.
• Obtain and return equipment and supplies for procedures.
• Assist with operating room turnover and cleaning between procedures.
• Maintain supply par levels within the operating room.
• Perform specimen hand-offs and follow policy for proper specimen handling.
