About The Position
The Operating Room Technician I will aid Operating Room team members prior to, during, and after surgical procedures. The main functions of this position will include transporting patients/specimens, obtaining supplies/laboratory products, and maintaining a clean environment within the department.
Requirements
- High School Education or GED required.
- Certified in Basic CPR within 6 months of hire.
- No experience required.
Responsibilities
- Transporting patients and lab products/specimens to and from the Operating Room (OR).
- Protecting patient privacy and modesty.
- Transporting OR equipment/supplies, specimens, cafeteria supplies, blood, and other items as assigned.
- Maintaining supplies and equipment.
- Restocking warmers with solutions and blankets, stocking forms and count sheets, etc.
- Assisting with the orientation of new employees.
- Responsible for accurate and clear communication to other members of the health care team when giving reports.
- Using the appropriate chemicals, supplies, or equipment when needed.
- Decontaminating operating rooms after surgical cases.
- Maintaining an acceptable level of cleanliness for all anesthesia and OR equipment.
- Demonstrating initiative in completing work that needs to be done, within areas of responsibility.
- Recognizing and reporting potential problems to the supervisor or nursing manager on the floor.
