About The Position

Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital is hiring Per Diem Registered Nurses for the Operating Room, offering maximum schedule flexibility for experienced OR RNs who want control over when they work—without stepping away from complex, high‑acuity surgical care. This role is ideal for nurses who want to stay clinically engaged, maintain OR skills, and work alongside an exceptional surgical team—while choosing shifts that fit their lifestyle. As a Per Diem Operating Room Registered Nurse, you’ll provide expert perioperative nursing care on an as‑needed basis, supporting surgical services across a broad range of specialties. In this role, you will deliver safe, high‑quality perioperative nursing care for surgical patients, function as a circulator and/or scrub RN based on competency and unit needs, prepare operating rooms, equipment, and instruments for procedures, collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and interdisciplinary teams, advocate for patient safety and quality throughout the perioperative experience, support urgent, emergent, and scheduled surgical cases as needed, and maintain clinical excellence within a fast‑paced, team‑oriented OR environment. This role is built for flexibility—while still contributing to meaningful patient care.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse in the State of Practice.
  • At least one year of experience.
  • Must maintain BLS certification.
  • ACLS is unit dependent.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN in Nursing preferred.
  • Specialty Certification is preferred
  • BLS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, high‑quality perioperative nursing care for surgical patients
  • Function as a circulator and/or scrub RN based on competency and unit needs
  • Prepare operating rooms, equipment, and instruments for procedures
  • Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Advocate for patient safety and quality throughout the perioperative experience
  • Support urgent, emergent, and scheduled surgical cases as needed
  • Maintain clinical excellence within a fast‑paced, team‑oriented OR environment
  • Assesses, diagnoses, plans, implements, and evaluates patients' care.
  • Develops updates and coordinates the patients' plan of care to achieve patient goals and to optimize outcomes and transitions across the continuum.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
  • Performs and maintains the currency of essential competencies as required by a specific area of hire and population served.
  • Effectively advocates for ethical and holistic care by partnering in care planning to promote the autonomy, dignity, rights, values, and beliefs of those we serve.
  • Fosters a learning environment for patients/families, nursing, and other members of the healthcare team, including student; Facilitates formal and informal learning for patients/families, nursing, other members of the healthcare team, and community.
  • Accountable for safety, identifies and corrects problems, and integrates evidence and best practice into nursing care; uses data and evidence to improve patient outcomes.
