About The Position

Northwest Specialty Hospital is seeking a detail-oriented Operating Room Assistant to join our Surgical Team! This is a per-diem position that will likely be one day a week. Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and at the direction of an anesthesia provider, the assistant is responsible for stocking, cleaning, and turnover of anesthesia equipment and the OR in conjunction with the nursing staff. The role involves monitoring and maintaining the anesthesia service with appropriate supplies, assisting with the needs of the anesthesia provider, transporting patients, and facilitating rapid turnover in the OR and anesthesia from case to case. The position requires demonstrated knowledge of principles and practices of aseptic technique and the ability to work under pressure in situations that demand patience, tact, stamina, and endurance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to achieve CPR certification within 60 days of employment.
  • Ability to relate and work effectively with others.
  • Demonstrated skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective patient care and to meet documentation standards.
  • Willingness to participate in goal-setting and educational activities for own professional advancement.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience is preferred.
