About The Position

The Operating Room Cleaner helps maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment by thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting operating room areas in accordance with established safety and infection-prevention standards. The role supports the health and well-being of patients, physicians, and staff. It is based at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and is full time with varied days and hours.

The employee performs terminal cleaning of operating rooms and prepares rooms for the next case; cleans and disinfects floors; moves equipment and furniture as required by cleaning procedures; and gathers and disposes of trash and waste. The role also includes floor buffing, stripping, waxing, polishing, and top scrubbing, as well as regular housekeeping in non-patient operating room areas. The employee follows departmental policies and quality, safety, environmental, and infection-control standards, participates in educational programs and in-service meetings, and obtains and maintains operating room cleaning certification.

Requirements

• Less than a high school diploma or equivalent.
• At least two years of housekeeping experience.
• Successfully complete the Operating Room Training Program within nine months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintain departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection-control standards.
• Perform terminal cleaning of operating rooms and prepare rooms for the next case.
• Clean and disinfect floors according to required protocols.
• Move equipment and furniture in operating rooms in accordance with cleaning procedures.
• Gather and dispose of trash and waste materials.
• Participate in educational programs and in-service meetings.
• Obtain and maintain operating room cleaning certification.
• Buff, strip, wax, polish, and top scrub floors.
• Perform regular housekeeping duties in non-patient operating room areas.
